Dr Julia Ong (Optometrist)
Dr Julia Ong received her Bachelor of Optometry (Hons) and graduate certificate in ocular therapeutics from The University of New South Wales. During her clinical placement, she has gained invaluable experience and knowledge from working in both rural and urban optometric settings. She has spent time assisting Ophthalmologists, working along-side Optometrists, and performing pre-assessment with Orthoptists in Australian College of Optometry, Melbourne, and at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Tasmania. While working at Centre for Eye Health, she developed ophthalmological imaging skills, which heightened her special interest in glaucoma and macular degeneration. She then travelled to America, where she was exposed to a diverse range of ocular diseases and therapeutics at Omni Eye Services, Atlanta.
Dr Julia Ong has dedicated her research to Bacterial Transmission from Contact Lens storage case to Contact Lens and its possible risk of infection to the eye. With other areas of interest such as Orthokeratology and Myopia control, Julia hopes to further advance her clinical expertise as well as engage in volunteering work to provide vision care in areas where it is less accessible.
